Action taken on incidents of indecent behavior in educational institutions in Adilabad district

Adilabad : District Collector Rajarshi Shah said that the district administration has taken immediate action regarding the indecent behavior of children in two educational institutions in Adilabad district.

On this occasion, the details of the incidents that took place in the district and the action taken were revealed.

1. Following information received that a teacher at ZP High School in Thamsi mandal had misbehaved with students, a case was registered against him under the POCSO Act and an FIR was registered.

2. The mother of the victim student complained that a coach at Adilabad Sports School had misbehaved with a student.  After investigation, a case under the POCSO Act was also registered against the coach and an FIR was lodged

3. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC)* has ordered an inquiry into the incident at the sports school and has ordered departmental action against the teacher at Tamsi School.

*Action taken:*
The teacher at Tamsi School has been temporarily suspended.
The coach at the sports school has been terminated.

*The code of conduct to be followed by teachers (as per the POCSO Act) is as follows.

1. Professional boundaries:

No unnecessary physical contact.

No sharing of personal information (phone number, social media links).

2. Transparent dealings:

No being alone in a closed room with children.

Communication should be limited to the approved means of communication by the school.

3. Respectful language:
No obscene remarks, sexual jokes, gestures should be used.
No comments about dress or body.

4. Sexist behavior:
Respect the personal and cultural boundaries of students.

5. Safe complaint environment:
A safe environment should be created where students can complain without fear.

All complaints should be investigated impartially and reported to the POCSO committee if necessary.

6. Precautions outside school:
Photos/videos of students should not be stored on personal mobile phones.

7. Awareness & Training:
Teachers must be trained on the POCSO Act.

The collector said that failure to file a complaint can also be punishable by law.
