Sikkim : A woman has had scissors in her stomach for the past 12 years. She has been suffering from pain in her stomach for almost ten years, and for 12 years, doctors have not been able to find out that she has scissors in her stomach.
Doctors gave an unexpected shock to a 45-year-old woman who went to the hospital with stomach pain. They took an x-ray and said that there was a cut in her stomach. Somehow this surprised not only the patient, her family members, but also the hospital doctors.
In Sikkim, 12 years ago, a woman suffering from appendicitis went to Sir Tutob Nyamgal Memorial Hospital in Gangtok for treatment. Doctors there performed appendicitis surgery on her.
Even after being discharged, her stomach pain did not subside. After that, she visited many hospitals for a solution to her stomach ache. However, there was no result. Recently, on October 8, she once again went to STNM Hospital where she underwent appendicitis surgery.
The doctors who examined her at STNM Hospital were shocked to see the X-ray taken.
It was obvious to them that the scissors were in her abdomen. She was even more shocked to know that it was in the same hospital where she had the surgery done in 2012. Immediately the woman underwent surgery and the scissors were removed. She is currently recovering slowly.
As this matter came out, the victim’s family members and local public associations reached the hospital and held a large-scale protest.
As a result, the Sikkim Medical and Health Department has ordered an inquiry into the management of STNM Hospital.
